Emily is an amazingly talented photographer and also happens to be the sweetest, kindest, and most lovely person you will ever meet. She is like a sister to me and you may in fact recognize her from the many paintings in which I have used her as my model over the years, haha.
I am so excited for her to get all of her photos uploaded and for you to see her work because it is all so incredibly creative and absolutely breathtaking. You can also check out her blog, which I believe she has a link to in her journal.
SO GO VISIT HER PAGE AND WATCH HER AND WORSHIP HER
On a side note, I'm done with classes! Done with finals! Done with my voice jury!
I was originally supposed to have my major standing for vocal performance at the end of this semester, but I somehow managed to acquire the worst sinus infection I have ever encountered back in... October, I think? And it did not go away. Until about last month. I. kid. you. not.
When I first got this nasty bug I completely lost my voice for about three weeks. It eventually came back and I thought everything would go back to being fine and dandy, but no.
It came back
again.
and again.
and again.
I was seriously getting ill, getting a soar throat and loosing my voice about every other week. It was awful. Apparently the type of sinus infection I had was a reoccurring one. It likes to attack, then go dormant for a while, then pop back up again and again. The antibiotics my doctor was giving me were doing nothing.
My voice teacher and I spent the most of whatever lessons I was able to have, in the rare occasion I was not sick, simply trying to rehabilitate my voice from the infection. So you can see, as this year we were mostly just trying to make sure that my voice was not permanently damaged by this, there was little to no time for actual... improvement.
Finally, the day before my university's Symphony Chorus concert (We were singing Dona Nobis Pacem by Vaughan Williams at a very prestigious concert hall in the state, ahh) the infection came back yet again. I flew back to my doctor and explained to him the urgency of the situation, so he finally shot me in the rear with the strongest antibiotic he had, and low and behold! The next day, an hour before the concert, it FINALLY went away.
FOR GOOD.
Oh, and on top of all this I've gotten some neck problems as well. My neck has become bent the wrong way. So the muscles in my neck are going through some crazy tension that oh so conveniently likes to obstruct my voice... particularly in the passaggio area... which is difficult enough to deal with on it's own. Luckily, constant visits to the chiropractor can easily clear that up. But still. Why me.
I was thankfully able to have some major breakthroughs in my lessons for the last month or so of classes after that bloody infection was finally killed dead, but still. I was in no state to suddenly leap into my major standing after a year of illness and only about a month or so of actual lessons for the year. That would be suicide. I would like to actually have a chance of passing thankyouverrymuch.
So I will spend the summer and next fall making up for all the training I had to miss this year and I will be taking my major standing at the end of the fall term.
Much better plan in my opinion.
Oh and my voice teacher is moving away.
So there's that
Just can't win
So new teacher and all
le sigh
Wow that was A LOT more than I intended to type XD But that is basically what has been going on in my life recently, so there you go.
Things can only go up from here
I hope
